Aengus
Aengus was born at Animal Acres on December 31, 2005. His mother, Briget, is one of hundreds of animals rescued from a California slaughterhouse in November 2005. The animals were seized by humane officers when they were discovered in grisly living conditions. The animals were severely emaciated and extremely weak from malnourishment and dehydration. When they arrived at Animal Acres, most of the sheep were sick or injured and required daily veterinary treatments.
Aengus, his mother, and the other rescued animals are now safe at Animal Acres. They are starting to recover from the misery and pain they suffered in the slaughterhouse and are enjoying the loving daily care they receive from the devoted volunteers. Now safe, their personalities are also starting to shine through. Aengus is a beautiful and friendly sheep. He is not only special because of his unique coloring, but he is also a true miracle baby. If his mother hadn't been rescued by Animal Acres volunteers, she would have never lived long enough to give birth to him. He was given the name Aengus, which is the name for the Irish god of love.
